Last updated: 04/28/2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the SolGlow mobile application ("SolGlow", the "App", "we", "us") handles your information. SolGlow is published by Twisted Data Studios ("we"). By using SolGlow you agree to the practices described below.

If you have questions, contact us at support@twisteddatastudios.com.

1. Summary

SolGlow is designed to be privacy-first:

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not use advertising or third-party analytics.
  • We do not track you across apps or websites.
  • Almost everything you enter or generate in SolGlow stays on your device.
  • The only data ever sent off your device is your approximate or precise latitude/longitude, which is sent to a public weather API (Open-Meteo) to retrieve a UV forecast for your location. No name, account, or device identifier accompanies that request.

2. Information SolGlow Handles

2.1 Information you provide in the App

You may enter the following directly: - Age, body weight, and height - Skin type (Fitzpatrick scale) - Default outfit / clothing preset and optional weekday clothing schedule - Daily vitamin D supplement intake (IU) - Daily dietary vitamin D intake (IU) and food log entries - Display preferences (light/dark/system, weight and height units) - Acknowledgement record if you choose to disable burn warnings (a timestamp and version of the disclosure you acknowledged)

This information is stored locally on your device in iOS's app-private storage. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party.

2.2 Apple Health (HealthKit) data

With your explicit permission, SolGlow: - Reads your Time in Daylight samples from Apple Health to estimate the sunlight you have received. - Writes the App's estimated vitamin D values into Apple Health as dietary vitamin D samples, so they appear alongside your other health data.

HealthKit data is processed on your device only. It is never transmitted to our servers or to any third party. You can revoke or change HealthKit permissions at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → SolGlow.

2.3 Location data

With your explicit permission, SolGlow uses your device location: - While in use, to compute the sun's angle and UV factor for your latitude when you open the App. - Optionally always, using iOS's significant-change location monitoring (no continuous GPS), to record meaningful location changes (typically more than 500 meters of movement). This lets SolGlow attribute your sunlight to the place you actually were — for example, a morning in one city and an afternoon in another.

Stored location fixes are: - Throttled to roughly one fix every two hours. - Pruned automatically after 60 days. - Stored only on your device.

Your latitude and longitude are sent off-device only as described in Section 3.1 below.

2.4 Information we do not collect

SolGlow does not collect or process: - Your name, email address, phone number, or other contact details - An account or login (the App has no user accounts) - Advertising identifiers (IDFA), or any device or hardware identifier - Contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or calendar data - Browsing or in-app behavioral analytics

3. How Your Information Is Used and Shared

3.1 UV forecast (Open-Meteo)

To produce a UV forecast, SolGlow sends your latitude and longitude over HTTPS to Open-Meteo's public weather API at api.open-meteo.com. The request contains only the coordinates and the technical parameters of the forecast query — no identifier, account, device ID, or other personal data is attached. Open-Meteo's privacy policy is available at https://open-meteo.com/en/terms#privacy.

This is the only third-party network service SolGlow uses.

3.2 Apple HealthKit

Health data exchanged with Apple Health is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your iOS settings. We do not receive a copy of that data on any server.

3.3 No sale, no advertising, no analytics

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising, marketing, or analytics. SolGlow contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

We may disclose information only if required to do so by law or valid legal process. Because we do not store your personal information on our servers, in practice we have nothing about you to disclose.

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Data Where it lives
Profile, preferences, food log, supplement and dietary entries iOS app-private storage on your device
Location history (last ~60 days, throttled) iOS app-private storage on your device
Cached UV forecast iOS app-private storage on your device
Home Screen widget snapshot (small summary used to render the widget) iOS App Group container shared between SolGlow and its widget on the same device
Apple Health Time-in-Daylight samples (read) and vitamin D samples (written) The Apple Health database on your device, managed by iOS

All data on your device is protected by iOS data-protection and the application sandbox. Network requests to Open-Meteo are sent over HTTPS.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Profile, preferences, food log, supplement/diet entries: retained on your device until you change them, reset them in the App, or delete the App.
  • Location history: automatically pruned after 60 days. You can also disable always-allow location at any time in iOS Settings.
  • UV forecast cache: refreshed automatically and overwritten with each fetch.
  • Apple Health samples: managed by you in the Health app, independent of SolGlow.
  • Deleting the App from your device removes all of SolGlow's locally-stored data, including the App Group (widget) data. It does not delete vitamin D samples that have already been written to Apple Health; those remain under your control in the Health app.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can, at any time: - Revoke HealthKit permissions in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → SolGlow. - Revoke or downgrade Location permissions in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → SolGlow. - Edit or clear the values you entered (profile, supplement, diet, food log) directly in the App. - Delete the App to remove all local SolGlow data from your device.

Because SolGlow does not transmit identifiable data to us, we are unable to look up, export, or delete your data on your behalf — your device is the system of record. The controls above give you full deletion and access rights.

7. Children's Privacy

SolGlow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. SolGlow contains health-related content and is intended for general audiences. If you believe a child has used the App, deleting the App will remove all locally-stored data from the device.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data SolGlow handles: - Local data is stored in iOS's encrypted app sandbox. - Network traffic to the UV forecast service uses HTTPS (TLS). - The App contains no third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics SDKs.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. However, because SolGlow does not transmit personally-identifying data to a server we operate, the practical risk is limited to your own device.

9. International Users

SolGlow processes the data described above on your device, wherever you use the App. The single off-device call (to Open-Meteo) is processed by Open-Meteo, whose data handling is governed by Open-Meteo's own privacy policy.

10. Medical Disclaimer

SolGlow is an information and estimation tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Estimates of vitamin D production, serum levels, and burn risk are model-based and may be inaccurate. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about sun exposure, supplements, or your health.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was most recently changed. Material changes will be reflected in the App or on this page. Your continued use of SolGlow after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
