1.7 The Real Number Latest July 2026

SolGlow now corrects for what the sun actually does. The new True-D engine re-weights UV for ozone and sun angle into true vitamin-D UV — because sunburn UV isn't vitamin-D UV — with the studies named on screen. And SolGlow now speaks German, Spanish, and Japanese everywhere.

  • NewTrue-D: ozone-corrected vitamin D. The UV Index measures sunburn, not vitamin D, and the two diverge whenever ozone is high or the sun is low. SolGlow now re-weights UV into true vitamin-D UV using total-column ozone and sun angle (Kazantzidis 2009, CIE action spectrum). Your free estimates only ever get more honest — never inflated; Pro's hour-by-hour reconstruction runs the full physics.
  • FreeSee the ozone step. On days ozone changed your result, “See how this was calculated” adds a new cited step showing exactly how much — a high-UV day can still be a weak vitamin-D day, with the math on screen. If your numbers read a little different than before, that's the correction working; a one-time note explains it.
  • NewNow fully localized. SolGlow now speaks German, Spanish, and Japanese everywhere — the app, every widget, the Apple Watch app and complications, Siri answers, and even the system permission prompts.
  • PolishHonest at midnight. Widgets, the Watch complication, and Siri now roll over at midnight instead of showing yesterday's sun as today's. If a number is stale, SolGlow says “open to refresh” — it never presents old data as live.
  • PolishSmoother first run & purchases. Permission requests come one at a time, in context. The paywall shows real progress for Restore, explains Family Sharing “Ask to Buy” approvals and remembers a pending one across launches, and a locked widget now opens the unlock screen directly.
  • PolishDozens more fixes. Manual sun logging now works from an empty history; the serum estimate stays neutral until you anchor it with a blood test; clearer colors in bright light; a gentler day-one welcome; and offline trip planning shows the physics fallback instead of an error.
  • ProSolGlow Pro is $19.99. One-time, no subscription, Family Sharing included. Anything you've already unlocked stays yours.
1.6 Own the Winter July 2026

The only sun app that works when there's no sun. When the noon sun at your latitude can't make vitamin D, SolGlow changes shape — showing where your vitamin D is coming from and counting down to the sun's return.

  • NewWinter Mode. When your latitude's noon sun can't clear the vitamin-D threshold, a new D-Maintenance view shows where your vitamin D is really coming from — supplements, food, and daylight for your body clock — with a “Sun returns” countdown and the physics named on screen. Pro adds a hold-your-level winter maintenance plan.
  • FreeWinter Countdown widget & complication. “Days until the sun makes vitamin D again at your latitude.” A free widget for the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy, plus an Apple Watch complication. It even counts down offline.
  • FreeStreak Shield. Winter can't break your streak anymore. When physics says the sun couldn't make vitamin D at your latitude that day, the miss is excused — your streak freezes instead of breaking. Only physics excuses a day; clouds and travel never do.
  • NewOne-tap supplement check-in. Mark your supplement “Taken” straight from a notification, a new interactive widget, Siri, or your Apple Watch — without opening the app. Your goal counts the supplement either way.
  • ProLog your UV lamp. Own a UVB sun lamp? Log sessions the way you log sun. SolGlow counts down to your lamp manufacturer's stated limit, warns you when you reach it (the warning is free, always), and credits vitamin D from their own published figures — hard-capped and labeled as estimates. SolGlow never recommends, prescribes, or times lamp use.
  • FreeBack up to your iCloud. Your SolGlow Vault backup can now live in your own iCloud — private, automatic if you want it, and encrypted with your passphrase before upload if you choose. Still no SolGlow servers, no account.
  • FreeWorks without a forecast. No connection? SolGlow falls back to a clearly labeled clear-sky physics estimate instead of going blank — and burn-safety timing stays conservative offline.
  • ProPlan the whole season. September Head-Start shows about how far your summer reserves carry you into autumn; Hold the Line runs a weekly winter checkpoint against the prediction SolGlow froze when your winter began, and one spring blood test shows how close the model got.
  • FreeYear in the Sun. A shareable recap of your whole year of sunlight, free for everyone — with a story at every equinox and solstice for Pro members.
  • FreeAlso in 1.6. Your weekly sun plan now aims at your personal daily goal (never below what your level warrants, always capped by burn-safe time), a published notification budget (at most one coaching nudge a day; safety alerts never limited), and everything new fully localized in Japanese, German, and Spanish.
  • ProSolGlow Pro moves to $19.99. The founders price retires with this release. Still one-time, no subscription, Family Sharing included — and anything you've already unlocked stays yours.
1.5 Automatic, and you can see why July 11, 2026

The biggest SolGlow update yet. Your Apple Watch daylight is now credited to your vitamin D automatically — and every number can open a cited, plain-language worked example of the exact model behind it. Automatic, and you can see why.

  • NewPassive Daylight Credit. SolGlow quietly credits the vitamin D from your Watch's Time in Daylight — no GPS trail, no manual logging. A free Daylight Credit card shows today's IU and minutes outside, with a confidence rating so you always know how the number was made.
  • NewShow the Work. Tap “See how this was calculated” and SolGlow re-runs the exact model behind your estimate — your real inputs, step by step, with Holick 2007 and Spencer 1971 named on screen. The explanation can never disagree with the number, because it comes from the real calculator. Free.
  • NewAsk Siri. Three read-only Siri & Shortcuts actions — Today's Sun, Vitamin D Level, and Best Sun Window. They speak back what SolGlow already computed and never change your data.
  • FreeBest Sun Window on StandBy. A new widget puts today's best sun window on your nightstand (StandBy), Lock Screen, and Home Screen — glanceable, no unlock required.
  • ProTrip Planner + jet-lag. A day-by-day sleep-and-light schedule to shift your body clock to local time faster, grounded in published circadian research, plus your destination's UV outlook. Timing guidance, not medical advice.
  • FreeBurn Guardian. A trailing-3-day sunburn advisory that flags when your sun adds up across days — even when no single day crossed your limit. Advisory only, never a diagnosis.
  • ProSession Lifeguard. Forgot to tap Done on a sun session? SolGlow reconstructs it so your sunlight isn't lost, saved to history with an honest “estimated” label.
  • ProSerum Level drill-down. Tap your estimate for a trajectory chart with a 12-week projection and a shaded optimal range.
  • FreeAlso in 1.5. The Doctor Report now carries your life-stage RDA and personal goal with separate PDF and CSV exports; custom goals grade consistently everywhere; Japanese, German, and Spanish localization; faster tab switches and an Apple Watch that refreshes the moment you open it.
  • ProFounders pricing continues. SolGlow Pro stays a one-time $14.99 — lifetime, no subscription, Family Sharing included. Going up soon.
1.4.1 Bring Your History June 23, 2026

Switching from another sun tracker is now effortless — bring years of history over in one tap, back everything up to a file you own, and set your own daily goal.

  • NewBring your history. Coming from another sun tracker? SolGlow now imports your Time in Daylight history straight from Apple Health — years of it, in one tap, with no account. Start full, not empty.
  • NewBack up everything. A new Backup & Restore saves all your data — profile, history, sessions, and blood-test baseline — to a single file you keep in Files or AirDrop to a new phone, with optional passphrase encryption. Still no servers, ever.
  • NewSwitcher setup. An optional "coming from another tracker?" first-run path anchors your vitamin D to your last blood test and shows exactly what carried over.
  • FreeSet your own goal. Choose your own daily vitamin D target — in Profile, or by tapping the goal right on your Dashboard.
  • PolishFixes & polish. The larger widget now shows your vitamin D next to your goal instead of your minutes outside, and the Health-data card clears itself once your phone is unlocked rather than getting stuck.
  • ProFounders pricing. SolGlow Pro is now a one-time $14.99 lifetime unlock — no subscription, ever, and going up later. Anything you've already unlocked stays yours.
1.4 Celebrate the Sun June 10, 2026

SolGlow now makes hitting your goal feel as good as it is — plus a full accessibility and consistency pass across the whole app.

  • NewCelebrations & streaks. Confetti and a success haptic when you meet your daily goal, with milestones at 7, 30, and 100 days. Your goal now counts sun, supplements, and diet together — so winter days count too.
  • ProSunscreen reapply timer. Start a session wearing SPF and SolGlow schedules an 80-minute reapply reminder, with a live Lock Screen countdown and an "I reapplied" button that restarts it without opening the app.
  • ProYour Week in the Sun. A shareable, story-sized recap of your week — total vitamin D, goals met, your streak, and your sunniest day — with an optional Sunday-evening reminder.
  • FreeDark mode, refined. Every card now renders with proper elevation in dark mode.
  • FreeOne daily goal everywhere. Dashboard, History, Day Detail, widget, notifications, and rings all grade against the same canonical goal — no more mismatches.
  • FreeClearer permissions. Location-denied states get an Open Settings path, and people without an Apple Watch get an honest explainer instead of endless zeros.
  • PolishAccessibility. First full VoiceOver pass, Dynamic Type for hero numbers and the History calendar, contrast fixes, and color-blind-safe cues. Onboarding is now half as long, and outfit settings stick reliably.
1.3.1 Bug fix June 8, 2026

A focused stability release for the Live Activity and the Apple Watch.

  • FixLive Session accuracy. Fixed the vitamin D figure freezing on the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen, and a case where a live session wasn't being recorded to history.
  • FixApple Watch stability. Resolved a watchOS connectivity watchdog crash by moving received-context reads off the main thread.
1.3 Morning Light June 3, 2026

SolGlow grew from measuring the sun to helping you use it — with a focus on morning light and how your body actually puts vitamin D to work.

  • ProMorning Light. A new dashboard card showing your first daylight of the day and how soon after waking it landed, plus a gentle morning reminder. Reads your wake time from Apple Health Sleep Analysis.
  • ProCofactor support. Log magnesium, K2, B12, and omega-3 and SolGlow shows a Low / Adequate / Optimized bioavailability badge — because vitamin D needs help to work.
  • ProLife-stage targets. Pick your stage — child, pregnant, 75+, or prediabetes — and your daily target and guidance adjust to the latest Endocrine Society groupings.
  • ProEditable history. Fix a day's recorded sunlight minutes from History → Day Detail, and the day's vitamin D, calendar, serum projection, and doctor report all re-compute.
  • ProApple Watch Smart Stack. A new watchOS widget and face complications showing today's IU against your goal and your serum estimate.
  • FreeA canonical UV source. SolGlow now writes the day's peak UV index to Apple Health, so your device's UV data comes from an app that actually models it.
1.2 May 27, 2026

A deeper Pro tier and a richer live experience while you're out in the sun.

  • NewSun-session Live Activity. Track an active sun session live on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island as your vitamin D ticks up.
  • ProExpanded Pro features. Additional dashboard depth and tracking tools landed behind the SolGlow Pro unlock.
  • FreePricing settled. SolGlow Pro moved to a one-time $7.99 lifetime unlock — still no subscription, ever.
1.1 May 2026

SolGlow became free to try, and gained its companion-app connection.

  • NewFree to try. SolGlow moved to a free download with a 14-day full-feature preview, then a one-time unlock — full dashboard, forecast, watch app, and widget, nothing held back during the preview.
  • NewCalmTide companion sync. If you also use CalmTide, the two apps now share a small daily summary on-device so each can show a fuller picture of your sun, sleep, and recovery.
  • FreePer-day clothing in History. Adjust what you were actually wearing on any past day and your vitamin D and burn estimates re-compute to match.
  • PolishSmarter widget & background refresh. Faster, more accurate widget snapshots and a new coordinator that keeps the dashboard, widget, and watch in sync after you've been outside.
1.0 Launch April 2026

The first release — turning the sun into a measurable nutrient.

  • NewVitamin D from real sunlight. Estimates the vitamin D you produced today from your Apple Watch's Time in Daylight, your location's solar geometry, the day's UV, and your skin profile — in real IU, not just minutes outside.
  • NewSunburn guardian. Conservative, skin-type-aware burn warnings that fire when peak UV plus your time outside approaches your threshold.
  • NewEvery source in one place. Log foods (USDA FoodData Central), supplements, and dietary intake, and see a projected serum level alongside today's exposure.
  • NewApple Watch app & Home Screen widget. A glanceable summary of today's sunlight, vitamin D, and burn status.
  • FreePrivate by design. No accounts, no analytics, no ads. Everything stays on your device — the only network call is an anonymous UV-forecast lookup.
