This Privacy Policy describes how the Hedge Fund CEO mobile application ("Hedge Fund CEO", the "App", "we", "us") handles your information. Hedge Fund CEO is published by Twisted Data Studios. By using Hedge Fund CEO you agree to the practices described below.
If you have questions, contact us at support@twisteddatastudios.com.
1. Summary
Hedge Fund CEO is a simulated stock-trading game. It does not handle real money. We designed it with a few clear privacy principles in mind:
- We do not sell your data.
- You do not need an account to play. Sign in with Apple is optional.
- Your portfolio and trade history are stored on your device, mirrored to our database only if you choose to sign in.
- The leaderboard collects only an anonymous user ID, your portfolio value, and (if you've signed in) your display name.
- The App is free because it shows mobile ads. That is the only reason we use a third-party advertising SDK.
- The App does not access your location, your Apple Health data, your contacts, your photos, your camera, or your microphone.
2. Information Hedge Fund CEO Handles
2.1 Game state you generate in the App
As you play, the App stores the following on your device:
- Your virtual portfolio: cash balance, open positions, options contracts, and portfolio-value snapshots over time.
- Your trade history (every buy, sell, short, cover, options trade, and dividend payment).
- Your unlocked achievements and your daily-streak record.
- Display preferences (e.g., the time range selected on the dashboard chart).
This data is stored in iOS's app-private storage on your device.
2.2 Anonymous user ID and leaderboard data (Firebase)
To make the global leaderboard work, the App uses Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore (operated by Google):
- On first launch, the App creates an anonymous Firebase user ID (a random string). This ID is not linked to any contact information.
- Whenever your portfolio value changes meaningfully, the App writes a single document to Firestore containing:
- your anonymous user ID,
- your current portfolio value (a number),
- your total-return percentage (a number),
- your display name, if you have one (see §2.3).
- The App reads the top of the leaderboard (capped at 100 entries) so it can render the Ranks tab.
No portfolio details, position-level data, trade history, or device identifiers are sent to Firestore. Firestore data is governed by the Google Cloud Platform Privacy Notice and Google's data-processing terms.
2.3 Sign in with Apple (optional)
If you tap Sign in with Apple in Settings, the App receives:
- A stable Apple identity token issued by Apple.
- Optionally, the display name you choose to share with the App at first sign-in (you can pick "Hide My Email" and a custom name — Apple's standard flow).
The App links your Apple identity to your existing anonymous Firebase user ID — your portfolio and leaderboard entry do not change, they simply become recoverable on a new device. If you sign in, your chosen display name is written to your leaderboard document so other players can see who is at the top of the board. You can sign out at any time from Settings.
Display names are validated against a basic profanity list before being written. We do not store your Apple email address, even the relay address, on our servers.
2.4 Market data (Yahoo Finance public endpoints)
To show live quotes, options chains, dividend schedules, historical price bars, and news headlines, the App makes HTTPS requests to public endpoints at query1.finance.yahoo.com and query2.finance.yahoo.com. These requests carry:
- the ticker symbol(s) you are looking at,
- standard HTTP headers (user agent, cookies for Yahoo's anti-abuse "crumb" auth).
No personal data, account information, device identifier, or location is attached to these requests. Yahoo's processing of these requests is governed by Yahoo's privacy policy.
2.5 Advertising (Google Mobile Ads)
Hedge Fund CEO is free because it displays mobile ads via the Google Mobile Ads SDK, with consent collected via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) and iOS's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt.
- If you grant tracking permission via ATT, the SDK may use your iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and standard mobile-ad attribution signals to deliver personalized ads. This is the App's only use of tracking.
- If you deny tracking permission, the SDK does not receive your IDFA and serves only non-personalized ads. The App is fully functional in either case.
- The App contains two ad placements: an opt-in rewarded ad that unlocks a one-day analytics card, and an interstitial that may appear on a foreground return (hard-capped to at most one every few minutes, and never on launch). Ads never affect cash, positions, achievements, or the leaderboard.
Google's handling of ad-delivery data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, the Google Mobile Ads SDK terms, and the UMP consent record. You can change your ad-tracking choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and in Settings → Personalized Ads inside the App.
2.6 Information we do not collect
Hedge Fund CEO does not collect or process:
- Your real legal name, mailing address, phone number, date of birth, or government identifier.
- Any real financial account, bank account, brokerage account, or payment card information.
- Your location (the App does not request Location permission).
- Apple Health, HealthKit, or fitness data.
- Your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or calendar.
- Your browsing history or activity in other apps (beyond what Google Mobile Ads receives if you grant ATT consent).
3. How Your Information Is Used and Shared
3.1 Game functionality
Game-state data described in §2.1 is used solely to run the App on your device — track positions, compute P&L, render charts, and so on.
3.2 Leaderboard
Data described in §2.2 is used solely to display the global leaderboard. We do not analyze leaderboard data for marketing, demographic profiling, or anything beyond ranking and display.
3.3 Ad delivery
Data described in §2.5 is used by Google Mobile Ads to deliver advertising and to attribute installs to ad campaigns. We do not receive a copy of your IDFA or your ad-impression history.
3.4 No sale of personal information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising or marketing beyond the standard ad-delivery use described in §2.5.
3.5 Legal disclosures
We may disclose information only if required to do so by law or valid legal process. Because the only data we hold about you in our systems is an anonymous Firebase UID, a portfolio-value number, and (optionally) a display name, in practice we have very little to disclose.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
| Data | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| Portfolio, positions, trade history, achievements, streak | iOS app-private storage on your device |
| Anonymous Firebase user ID and leaderboard document (portfolio value, return %, optional display name) | Google Cloud Firestore (United States) |
| Cached market quotes, options chains, headlines | iOS app-private storage on your device |
| Ad consent state (UMP / ATT) | iOS app-private storage on your device |
| Ad-delivery signals (IDFA if consented) | Google Mobile Ads infrastructure |
All data on your device is protected by iOS data-protection and the application sandbox. All network requests are sent over HTTPS.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Game state on your device: retained until you reset it from Settings → Reset Portfolio or delete the App.
- Leaderboard document on Firestore: retained while you continue to play. If you have not signed in with Apple, the document is bound to a Firebase UID that exists only on your device's keychain — deleting the App effectively orphans it. You can request hard deletion of your leaderboard entry by emailing support@twisteddatastudios.com from the email address associated with your Apple ID (if you signed in), or by sending us the anonymous UID shown in Settings → About.
- Cached market data: refreshed automatically and overwritten with each fetch.
- Ad-related identifiers (IDFA): retention is governed by Google. Revoking ATT consent in iOS Settings stops further IDFA use.
- Deleting the App from your device removes all of Hedge Fund CEO's locally-stored data. If you signed in with Apple, your leaderboard entry persists in Firestore until you request deletion (see above).
6. Your Rights and Choices
You can, at any time:
- Revoke ad tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Hedge Fund CEO, or via the in-app Settings → Personalized Ads toggle.
- Sign out of Sign in with Apple at any time from in-app Settings. Signing out leaves your local portfolio intact and reverts the leaderboard document to its anonymous state.
- Reset your portfolio in Settings → Reset Portfolio.
- Delete the App to remove all local Hedge Fund CEO data from your device.
- Request deletion of your Firestore leaderboard document by emailing support@twisteddatastudios.com. Include the anonymous UID shown in Settings → About so we can identify the right document.
If you are a resident of California (CCPA), the EEA / UK (GDPR), or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you may have additional rights including access, correction, portability, and deletion. To exercise them, email support@twisteddatastudios.com. Because we hold very little information about you, in most cases we can confirm what we have and delete it on request within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Hedge Fund CEO is rated 4+ on the App Store, but it depicts a stock market and uses real ticker symbols. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents who want to restrict in-app advertising can use iOS's Screen Time and ATT controls to deny tracking system-wide; Hedge Fund CEO will continue to function with non-personalized ads only.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data the App handles:
- Local data is stored in iOS's encrypted app sandbox.
- All network traffic uses HTTPS (TLS).
- Firestore writes are gated by security rules that allow each anonymous user to write only to their own document.
- The Firebase Auth token is stored in the iOS Keychain.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, but because the App holds so little personal data, the practical risk surface is small.
9. Third-Party Services
For convenience, here is the full list of third-party services Hedge Fund CEO uses and a link to each one's privacy disclosure. Their handling of any data they receive is governed by their own policies, not by this one.
- Firebase Authentication, Firebase Firestore (Google) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Mobile Ads SDK, Google User Messaging Platform (Google) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Yahoo Finance public quote, options, dividend, and news endpoints — legal.yahoo.com/us/en/yahoo/privacy
We do not use any other third-party SDKs in the App — no analytics, no crash reporters that ship data off-device, no attribution networks.
10. International Users
Hedge Fund CEO is offered globally on the App Store. Firestore data is stored in Google Cloud's US multi-region. If you are using the App from outside the United States, your leaderboard document is transferred to and stored in the United States. Standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms apply where required by law.
11. Financial Disclaimer
Hedge Fund CEO is a simulated trading game intended for entertainment and educational purposes. All quotes are delayed. Trades are simulated. Achievements and leaderboard positions have no real-world value. Nothing in the App is investment advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any security, or a solicitation to enter into any financial transaction. Past performance — virtual or real — is not indicative of future results. We never accept, hold, or transfer real money.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was most recently changed. Material changes will be reflected in the App or on this page. Your continued use of Hedge Fund CEO after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
